Events and activities organised by and under IIPPE are diverse, ranging from research workshops to formal conferences. For the most part these are organised within or between individual Working Groups, although events such as the annual Historical Materialism conferences and international research workshops are occasions during which IIPPE scholars and researchers come together to share ideas, foster research and stimulate debate.

IIPPE at 2007 Historical Materialism Conference, November 2007
IIPPE provided five sessions at the Historical Materialism Conference at SOAS, November 2007 with great success. As well as introducing IIPPE, the sessions covered ‘development and systems of accumulation’; ‘development and finance’; ‘contemporary capitalism’; and ‘economics imperialism’. The presentations and debates of these sessions instigated a number of new Working Groups that were established over the last year. (November 2007)

IIPPE 1st International Research Workshop, Crete, September 2007
The First International IIPPE research workshop was held in Crete in September 2007. This was organised by the University of Crete and brought together over 30 research students. Research papers presented covered theoretical research on class, labour and unemployment as well as more applied research on the developmental state, Financialisation and industrial policy. Organisationally, the workshop was an important opportunity to push IIPPE forward, develop Working Groups, the website and areas for activism and educational dissemination. (September 2007)
